SO my friend and I decided to come here to have lunch....well more like "hors d'oeuvre" during lunch hours. By the time we reached the restaurant, the place was already packed!!!! As for drinks I started with a passion fruit mojito, and whats "special" about it is that it happens to be my first time trying it. When I first sipped into that drink of goodness, I immediately blown away on how delicious it tasted! it was fresh, minty, cool, tropical, sweet, and tarty..this wont be last time ordering it ever again. Ok I'm gonna stop raving about mojitos :) Appetizers and Small Snacks was what we ordered just because we wanted lots of variety! and indeed we did get lots of variety. As a matter of fact we ordered so much variety that it filled up the table (that takes up 4 people space wise). In no particular order we ordered their buffalo chicken wings, that were covered in some tobasco like hot sauce. It also comes with a blue cheese dressing, and I HATE blue cheese so we asked to have ranch instead. However after dipping celery (came with the wings) in this so called "ranch" I realized it wasn't ranch at all, but BLUE CHEESE DRESSING!! I was like "nooo! tip reduction!!"...-joking- I just let it slip by and besides it saved me a few calories right?? chicken wings in general were alright nothing to jump up and down about. Vietnamese tacos were delish! the pork, and the pickled vegetables make a perfect couple. Only I wish the pork was tender, instead it was stringing and a little dry. Artichoke and Crab was alright, I tasted better at other places. It was a little bland, with too much cheese and actually spotted a blot of cream cheese in the middle of the dip. I guess I can now say so that's part of their ingredient to making it creamy. Last but not least, Fried Calamari! Out of all the dishes we ordered my favorite was the fried calamari! it came with cocktail sauce, and some mayo/lemon/dill sauce. Calamari tasted fresh even though they were most likely frozen, I even spotted some cute little small tentacle calamari babies which I was pretty amused to see. Batter over it was bland, without the sauces my palate would've eaten dead bland calamari minions.

The Cheesecake Factory is the best especially since this one is at the top level of Macy's Union Square. I agree with Ernest that the food there maybe a bit pricey. But it's still worth it and I give them 6 stars for the cheesecakes! The staff here are very friendly and customer service is efficient but it can be better. I am craving for a cheesecake as I edit this review! This restaurant is always busy so there will be a wait when you come here. It is popular and tops the list of busy restaurant at the same time. There is patio dining available. I'll come here again if I am at the Union Square Macy's location!

Nice overview of union square if you are seated outside. I gave this place 3 stars because although the view is great, the floors are really slimy (maybe from dropped beverages or food), my chicken was slightly burnt, and the food was just OK for its price. However, the cheesecake was BOMB! I got the cookies and cream cheese cake and it was really good lol. Also, the waiter was prompt to my requests, friendly, and even boxed my unfinished food in a nice bag. Overall an OK place to go if you wanted to eat out in Union Square San Francisco.

I have been here at least three times and I gotta say I love this place. The only catch is the long wait (because there's no reservations) but you just gotta time it right. But thank god for Macys. Cheesecake Factory is right above Macy so you can explore around the top two floors until the table is ready. I love to eat, I eat a lot but this place really makes me full. You know what I'm talking about right? Those days where you are too full that you might puke? Yeah, only go there with an empty stomach you won't regret it. During lunch, their portions may not seem like a lot, but trust me it's HECKA FILLING. If you look hard enough, you don't have to kill your wallet for a good lunch. They do have that extra SF Health Charge thing going on but hey, it tastes good, you get good bread and butter, you get good service. You get to eat in a lively, clean, comfortable, fancy setting. What more could you possibly want? If you are looking for a five star restaurant with a dress code, then get out of here. You gotta look somewhere else. This place is perfect for prom night, birthday dinner or even a casual lunch. If you come here for dinner and it's a bit chilly outside, don't fear. That's why we have heat lamps invented. If you choose to eat outside, you can totally eat on the patio ish area where you get an amazing view of Union square. Here's a SF secret, come to the Cheesecake factory at night time during Christmas time, you get to see the tall bright tree. That's like a room with a view but a dinner with a view and a heat lamp. HOW COOL IS THAT? Here's another SFsecret, come during the chinese new year parade, you can watch the parade without the crowds and stinkbombs. The icing on top would be that if you do choose to eat outside, you can have a candle lit on your table. SF can be pretty windy so if it is windy outside and you choose to have a candle on, it might go out in a few minutes. I recommend all of my friends to come here when we have money and time. If you have nothing to do and you want to eat a lot of American food, definitely this is the place to go, especially right after shopping.

The wait wasn't too bad for a Friday evening. I came a little early..around 6PM before the crazy dinner rush started however. My friend and I were absolutely craving the calamari so we definitely ordered that right when we sat down. They definitely lessened their portions and jacked up their price... I got the BBQ Chicken pizza which was SOOOOOO delicious. I was very surprised, but I would definitely recommend it.

Bought a slice of red velvet cheesecake to go. Unfortunately, the cheesecake is half red velvet and the bottom isn't "red" at all, it's brown and not as tasty as last time I had it.

There's always a LONG wait here but that is because of the location. It's right in the center of Union Square where all the hotels and tourists like to go. I don't think I've ever waited longer than an hour even for large parties of 10 or more. The menu is HUGE and so are the portions for a reasonable price. A must order is the avocado roll appetizer and the stuffed mushrooms. Very good! I also like the strawberry cheesecake. My only complaint about this place so far is that the last time I was here, which was a week ago there were a few flies around our table. That was kind of gross but nothing to make me stop coming here.

Now I'm sure if I was still an acne-laden adolescent in my powder blue tuxedo on my way to the senior ball with the bespectacled secretary of the chess club, the Cheesecake Factory would be my first choice for impressing her once I pinned the $2.75 plastic corsage on her handmade polyester dress. I swear this place still gives off that geek vibe to me even though I doubt I could have afforded this place in high school. The suburban and global masses that converge upon this place is still staggering, so make sure you allot at least two hours for the time it takes to wait and get through a meal here. And that's only if you're not picky where you sit since they offer outdoor seating. Oh and you get that corporate red-light buzzer complete with an unnecessary advertisement attached to it. How better to impress your prom date than to hold one of these buzzers. Jamie W. and I were lucky (if you can call it that) to wait only about half an hour on Sunday afternoon for a table. I had not been here in such a long, long time, and I finally remembered why it is still such a zoo...a humongous menu and portion out-of-control. I must have been in a high school cafeteria mood since I ordered the $15.95 Famous Factory Meatloaf, which consists of two big chunks of slightly burnt ground beef topped with grilled onions with a major pile of heavily creamed mashed potatoes on one side and a succotash side on the other (see the photo). Jamie went for the $12.95 Grilled Chicken Tostada Salad which came shaped like Twin Peaks as if to signal to us..."Wha' ya' kidding me? You ordered two entrees?" Lots of fresh ingredients on the plate but kinda saucy with the vinaigrette dressing (see the photo). Overall, the quality of the food is pretty good for a chain. Just go to an Olive Garden to make sure I'm right. We didn't leave room for cheesecake since we devoured the hot rolls quickly once we sat down. I actually don't regret the decision since the refined sugar would have made me too wired for a night at the theater. But will I come back to the madhouse wait? Hmmm, probably not soon....but hey, they're not stingy on free refills. FOOD - 3 stars...it ain't heavy, it's the Cheesecake Factory...suburban upscale for the Costco crowd in the heart of the city AMBIANCE - 3 stars...kinda Baroque tacky if you actually look hard enough, but there are so many people milling about, you probably won't notice SERVICE - 3.5 stars...courteous in a corporate trained way..too big a pitch given on the cheesecake if you ask me TOTAL - 3 stars...if you have a burning desire to see where tourists graze, by all means, come here

Finally I went to a cheese cake factory for my boyfriend and I to celebrate our anniversary early. The food was amazing! & The price was very reasonable. The only thing about this place I didn't like was the wait time, and they don't except reservations. Other than that the view is beautiful and our waiter was very polite! When he went on brake, he introduced us to a lady who was going to be helping us untill he got back. She was also very friendly. I will diffidently be back!

This location has always been a giant clusterF of waiting and crowds when walking in for a table inside. Once you've sat down though it used to get better. At least you'd get big portions and servers for the most part are professional and cordial. Nope not this time. After an hour long wait, we are finally seated at a table for two. which is very narrowly separated from the other tables to either side. Everything is pretty normal until we get our food and I notice that our server keeps squeezing herself in between our table and the table next to us to talk to the customer closer... it's a narrow space and although she is thin, she barely fits in there and is bumping our table and even accidentally steps on my foot, to which she apologizes. No big deal, I'm not a prude so whatever. We finish up and while waiting for dessert, again she squeezes in but this time she bumps our table hard enough and as she turns she actually knocks my drink down towards me ... right into my lap. Great. Sprite in the pants. Again, not a huge deal. She's clearly flustered and mentions there's a bathroom behind me if I'd like to clean up. I wash up and get what sticky soda off my pants and out of my naughty bits that I can. I come back to see they've done a quick wipe of the table but my feet are still in a puddle of soda on the floor. Sigh... accident waiting to happen again right there but that's going to be their problem. I think to myself that our cheesecake still hasn't come and if they had an inkling of good customer service, they'd just comp it. Our server drops off a replacement drink to me, without an apology or even a word of acknowledgement and proceeds to talk to the customers next to us. Ok.... Later when our cheesecake arrives, she's squeezed in on the other side (haven't you learned your lesson?) and she actually places it on our table while facing away from us, again not saying anything. Seriously? Why do I feel like the asshole here? I have to get her attention to ask for our bill. When I get it, nothing is discounted. I want to be clear that I'm not giving such a bad review for not being discounted or freebies. I'm not even giving a bad review for her spilling my drink on me. I'm disappointed that after such a stupid mistake you carry on without the courtesy and professionalism that is essential to providing good service.

Really? 3 stars only. I think its better than that... I came to SF in the middle of the summer and going to a place like this, I would expect so many people. And when me and my bf came here there were lots of people. As soon as we approached the desk to have our seats, the lady told us the expected time frame would be about 30-45 minutes if we choose to stay outside overlooking the beautiful union square. To my surprise we were called right away, say maybe 20 minutes or less. Again.. in middle of the summer with jammed packed people. No reservations either. The complimentary bread was good. We got chicken marsala and mushrooms and bang bang chicken & shrimp. The marsala was good...I've tasted better marsala before though but this isn't that bad. What I really like is the Bang-bang chicken & shrimp. If you like curry flavor stuff, this is for you. Chicken was tender (for both) and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, we didn't get any dessert because we were soo full. I would love to come back here again. You can't beat the view!

Same as all other cheesecake factory restaurants... but an hour long wait in line. I love cheesecake factory food, but don't want to wait this long for it. Since I live 3 blocks away and don't have a car, this is the only one I can come.............

Awesome food at an even better price. Just make sure you eat before you get on the wait list. I've literally put my name down on the list just to go back to Union Square for happy hour at a nearby restaurant. After loading up on drinks and appetizers, we proceeded back to Westfield to kill some time. After we finished walking around, we went back to Macys to walk around some more. We were finally seated after a two hour wait. We started off with several appetizers including the Hot Spinach Cheese Dip, Fire-Roasted Artichoke, Thai Lettuce Wraps, and Spicy Ahi Tempura Roll. The Fire-Roasted Artichoke put the Hot Spinach Cheese Dip to shame, but both were pleasant. I don't know why we ordered two sets of chips and dips. The Thai Lettuce wrap was too complex for a brute like me. I refuse to pay for a meal just to make it myself. The Spicy Ahi was winner of the appetizers though. I honestly didn't expect it to be that great, but it was and more. Flipping through the menu, I noticed "We use premium Certified Angus Beef®or American Style Kobe for all of Our Burgers". I asked the waiter is it REAL Kobe beef? He told me yes. For $13.95, I absolutely refused to believe it was. After going back and fourth and questioning my waiter's integrity and morals, I decided I had no grounds to judge whether it was real Kobe beef or not seeing how I've never tried it. So I ordered it! My KOBE burger came and the moment of truth was in my fingertips. It wasn't Kobe beef. But don't get me wrong, it was still a solid grade A burger with some of the best fries around. But at the end of the day, it was still just regular beef. We didn't order cheesecake because a total of 7 appetizers, multiple rounds of drinks, salad/soup, and an entree was more than enough to satisfy four people (gluttony will be the death of us). The bill came out to be around 140$ between four people ordering a feast fit for a king. Not bad. Overall a good choice for a meal if you have some time on your hands. Definitely on the Must Do List when going down town for the first time.

I am going to simplify this for you because if you have eaten at 1 cheesecake factory, you have eaten at them all. -Long wait times -Embarrassing cocktails -Skimpy appetizers +Lunch/Dinner portions +VIEW VIEW VIEW This location is all about the view. Don't expect anything different from this place other than the view of Union Square. Cheesecake Factory in general gets a 3 from me. but the view from this place warrants a 4.

What a wonderful night my husband planned for me. Ice skating in union square, shopping at Macy's and dinner at Cheesecake Factory. The instant you walk in, the ambiance changes completely. It's like you're in another place and you hardly notice that it's in Macy's. On top to be exact, as it has spectacular views of Union Square. It's a must see, especially since it's Christmas time and all of the lights are up. So gorgeous! Waits can be long so make reservations. Staff was great and our waiter was so nice. He totally indulged all my wacky additions and subtractions to my salad. Even though my order was wrong because of a misscommunication, he totally handled it well and brought me the corrected order right away. Among the many complaints I have about Cheesecake Factory as a whole, I was really shocked to see that their menu no longer has the calorie counts on them. Seeing their previous calorie counts made me not want to eat there but at least I knew what I was getting into. Because I felt like I was going into ordering blind, I opted for a Grilled Chicken Salad W/ Mango (normally known as the Luau Salad?) I was NOT happy with the portions of everything. They give you ENORMOUS amounts of the fatty food but they are totally stingy with the healthy stuff. The lettuce was plentiful but the mangoes were chopped up really finely so I probably was given only 2 tablespoons at the most. I expected big chunks of mango. It was actually more of a "salsa" which added a ton of flavor to the salad so it didn't need any dressing. Same thing for the bell peppers. Tiny portions. The chicken was a little better but dry as all hell. I can only assume that they cook it days before and freeze it, then thaw it out. No flavor what-so-ever. Their menu is so overwhelming! Make sure to take a look at the menu before you go so you aren't sitting there stressed about having to decide. The appetizer was completely tasteless. We ordered the mac and cheese and it was very bland. Not impressed with it's flavor of the sauce it was in at all. My husband's entree, a chicken pasta thing, wasn't good at all. WAY too spicy, yet it lacked flavor. Again, he got a huge plate that he only ate about 1/4 of, which is the correct serving for one person. The rest is now sitting in our fridge, collecting mold. Their wheat bread was good but they started giving the packets of butter. I remember getting fresh butter not too long ago. I have also never been a fan of their cheesecake so dessert wasn't an option. I once tried like 6 flavors and not one was good. I totally had Goldilocks Syndrome. Coconut was too sweet, chocolate was too dry, plain was too bland, strawberry was almost good but still not impressive. For literally a Cheesecake Factory, I would expect that each cheesecake would be phenomenal but they always miss the bar. I can only conjecture that they are not made fresh at the restaurant and are mass produced from a warehouse somewhere and delivered. But I could be wrong. It would explain the bland, been frozen too long taste. I think I may have just out grown these generic, corporate restaurants. I like my food to be fresh, tasty and healthy. You won't really find that here but it's a great place to meet up with people and have drinks after work or before a night out on the town. Even then, there are hundreds of other restaurants that are actually good.

I only came to this location because I wanted to dine on the rooftop patio. It was an hour wait on a Saturday Night, but my bf & I were okay with chilling in Union Square for an hour. The view was beautiful from our table, and our server provided excellent service. Good and medium-priced food.

i enjoy coming to the cheesecake factory in San Francisco. The food is good and the service is excellent. It can be busy so be prepared to have a relatively short wait. The Cheesecake is why we come and enjoy the menu. We usually sit in the bar, you can people watch, watch TV usually sports and enjoy.

It's Cheesecake Factory. The same flavor and quality no matter which one you go to. The only bad thing here is the elevator. About 2-3 rounds of wait to get to the top during peak hours.

  • Jennifer B.

LONG wait lines, but I can never avoid this place since my boyfriend is obsessed with their pizza. I always try to find something new to eat whenever we come here. Last time I got a cheeseburger which was surprisingly, AMAZING! I've also gotten the Cajun Chicken Littles plate numerous times because its so good, but don't let the name fool you, the plate is HUGE and it could serve two! The quality of service usually depends on which day you go. Most of the time we try to go on week days to avoid the massive crowds and have usually gotten better service than on weekends.

I usually try to stay away from the Cheesecake Factory since they serve an obscenely high calorie food that I can't resist. It is also always an impossible mission to get s sit in any of their restaurants without spending an obscene amount of time waiting in line. I think it is their strategy to create the line even if there are open tables to make the impression they are always so busy and in demand. Once inside almost anything in the menu will be a crowed pleasure and you are sure to enjoy your chosen dish as long as you don't count it's calories, or if you promise yourself to run a marathon the next day ( or before ?) This branch is no different. The service is good the food didn't fail as well. The location on Macy's rooftop above union square is a type A location which is hard to beat. I don't like the inside, it is too loud and s bit darkish so we set outside under one of the Heaters. In the cold nights of SF even two heaters from both sides couldn't help to keep us warm. Bring your coat, hat, and scarf. The kids are always psyched about the climb through Macy's different flours, and even more ecstatic about the elevator ride. Then they are truly out of their mind because of the union square view below, and the near by buildings. I hate it that they made us wait in line for twenty minutes although we asked to sit outside and more than half the tables outside were empty, clean, and ready to accommodate diners. A server approached us fast and took our order( we had plenty of time while waiting to choose from the menu), five minutes later he came to tell us his shift has ended and we will have a new server taking care of us. He didn't tell the new server about our special requests ( to leave the decorative seasoning out of the plate, to bring the salad dressing on the side, to split one of the dishes) and as s result almost everything came out wrong. I don't understand why a server that knows his shift ends takes an order. It was very upsetting to send the plates back to the kitchen and again wait for our food. It pretty much killed our dinner. By the time we began eating we were too hungry, upset and too frozen. We didn't stay for dessert but chose to buy sweets at the excellent sweet shop a few floors below.

The pros: nice view, one can sit outside, the waitress was pleasant, the sundae ice cream was an eye catcher. The cons: The wait was way too long, the front desk women were rude, that brought the stars one notch down.

On the sixth floor of the largest Macy's I've ever seen is where you'll find this treasure. Their menu is massive. The array of food the offer is amazing. You'll find something for sure! Our server was swift, attentive, and very kid friendly. The food was beyond yummylicious! there is also patio seating over looking Union Square. The view is breathtaking - outdoor ice skating rink to look at this time of year. Awesome!

Terribly slow service. They need to hire more servers asap. If you come here then expect the usual great food but also expect to wait one hour for someone to bother taking your order and another order for them to check on you.

Terrible. Waited over an hour for a party of two (promised a 60 min wait). The hostess station was the most stressful disorganized chaos I've ever experienced at a restaurant. I will never eat here again. The wait and the chaos at the front of the restaurant ruined the dining experience. There are so many ways to make seating guests at tables more efficient. It's baffling that this restaurant gets any business with how poorly the customer service is and how terrible the wait/seating process is.

First off, if you come here you have to sit outside on the patio. The view is amazing. Anyways when I stopped by here I came expecting to get the fried mac n cheese as my appetizer and the meatloaf as my entree. Unfortunately they were out of both so I got the ahi carpaccio appetizer and spaghetti. The ahi was excellent and well seasoned but the spaghetti was significantly undercooked. Our waitress was very sympathetic and quickly got me a new plate. I could tell she felt bad about the multiple inconveniences. For dessert I got the godiva chocolate cheesecake and it was delicious. I'm a sucker for anything rich and sickeningly sweet. My overall experience was not unpleasant but I was bummed they didn't have some of my favorite items. Maybe these shortages occur often since the restaurant is in a tourist area.

First, let me start by saying I have never had a bad experience at Cheesecake Factory, until today. We waited 35 minutes for our table, no problem, we knew that. First waitress was attentive took our order However when asked about how spicy a dish was, she said "not at all" well, it was. Appetizers were awesome as always. Our waitress went on break. Two other people brought out the meals, of the 4 entrees, one was very spicy, one very peppery, and the shrimp scampi had battered shrimp which was not explained on the menu. My chicken Madeira was very good (I like to include the positives) We would have told the waitress, but she was AWOL and it took almost 10 minutes to get side refills and that was because we asked another server to tell ours that our drinks were empty. My husband had to hunt down the manager because our waitress couldn't be found. Ultimately, they took two meals off (the super spicy one got mostly eaten) and gave us two slices of cheesecake. The biggest issue was the amount of time it took to get it taken care of when it should have been a simple fix.

Long waits yes, but what do you expect when it doesn't take reservations? Very solid food, when it comes to it being a chain restaurant. A friend who was visiting from Australia and I walked in, we waited maybe 30 min max, before we were seated. We ordered guacamole to start and it arrived quickly. She had the eggs with potatoes & toast, and I had the chicken di Pana, both were nothing short of delicious. There were no service issues, and the food was delicious. See you again sometime !

No Reservations. My mother and I ventured to this location for lunch after an busy morning of shopping in Union Square. Since my mother had never eaten at a Cheesecake Factory before, I suggested we stop in for lunch since we were in the area. LOCATION/SETTING: Top floor of Macy's (women's store). Accessible via escalator or elevator. Seating is either indoors or outdoors on their patio overlooking union square park. Though we arrived slightly past 1pm, surprisingly we were still quoted a wait of 30 minutes. A pager was given though we (as well as other parties) waited near the check-in podium. Some opted to wait on the patio while others left since the wait was too long. In the end, we waited roughly 35-40 minutes. FOOD: The menu is very diverse with many, many selections. They include appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pastas, etc., and of course, dessert. 1. Turkey Burger: My mother's choice. Served with a small salad. She found it satisfactory as she finished most of it. 2. Pasta Da Vinci (lunch portion): The menu has a lunch section where smaller portions of their sandwiches/pastas/entrees are offered. I've had this pasta before and I thought it was ok. It wasn't as memorable as at other locations where I've ordered this dish. It was slightly undercooked to say the least. I ate most of it since I was quite hungry. 3. Seasonal pumpkin cheesecake: Huge slice with a big dollop of whip cream. Not overly sweet. A great way to end the meal. SERVICE: Not great. The server, though polite and friendly, was slightly forgetful. He neglected to write down my order which prevented my food from being dropped off at the same time as my mother's. My mom was hungry so I told her to go ahead and start eating. Drinks weren't refilled in a timely manner and there was a delay (for some reason) in getting the check. BOTTOM LINE: Convenient location. Ok food. Below satisfactory service.

I think the first time I came here was better than when I came last night. We waited about an hour for a table, which is normal for the holiday season in union square. There were so many people there, so it was super cramped just checking it. There was also a lot of servers walking around & it was hard enough for them to get from one place to another. When we got to the table, it was pretty tight for a group of 6. It was a booth that was snug for 3 people sitting on either side of the bench. The server got to us pretty quickly but the food didn't. I'm pretty sure we had to wait around 45 minutes for 3 entrees & an appetizer. That was not cool especially when most of us were fighting hunger pangs. We decided to exchange secret Santa gifts while waiting for the food which was a nice way to make time pass. But because the space was so tight. There wasn't much room to move your arms to open the presents. The food itself was really good but I was expecting larger portions for couscous & chicken, especially since it cost $16.95!! The entrees are way overpriced for what you get. When we paid, we noticed there was an automatic 18% gratuity! It was crazy that our gratuity was $10 when the service was not all that great! I guess it applies to groups of 5 or more bc one of our friends ordered something separately from the rest of us! It was $3 per person for tax & tip but that adds up when you have 5 people. I think eating downtown is overrated & only worth it maybe for lunch or for off season (not during Christmas break!). Not sure if I'll come back during this time again.

You always now what you're gonna get which I love about the Cheesecake Factory. We had the Moroccan chicken which is our favorite dish. The food is average but you have to be honest why you really keep on coming back here.. The cheesecakes of course! We've almost went through all of them and they're delicious. :-)

The ambiance is perfect. Nice and dimmed and being on the eighth floor just makes it sweeter. The view from the balcony seats are just awesome and specially now since the city is adorned with christmas joy. The steak Diane medallions never fail. Merry christmas everyone!

Horrible! Started with the rude hostesses. I can appreciate being stressed that your computer just shut down but don't be rude or impatient to customers. Our waiter was Austin S. I had asked his recommendation between 2 different cheesecakes as we only came her for dessert and drinks. I went with his recommendation of the pineapple upside-down cheesecake over my first choice and was INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED. I said I wanted to change to the other flavor and he accommodated, only to charge me for both. On top of that he dropped the check and ran. You're not busy atm... There goes your tip dude.

The three star is really on point for this place unfortunately. First things first, be aware of the wait times, don't come in during the weekend expecting to get seated right away, it's in one of the busiest areas of SF. Parking can be a hassle, but there's parking across the street or down a few blocks near Westfield Mall that may be even cheaper. If you're here with friends or on a date do a combined Cheesecake factory and go ice skating. Ice skating gets a bit packed, but lots of photo-ops in the square itself! From the start if you're here at night get a seat outside and enjoy the view from down below it's amazing! If you're a tourist, double dating, going on a date, or just enjoying Union Square come here. I came here with my boyfriend and a girlfriend of mine with her boy. If you're in a group it's a great atmosphere to be in. Unfortunately the wait is long if you come during the weekend. We came on a Friday night and knew from the get go it would be at least an hour wait. It seems after about 6:30, the wait gets longer than an hour. My boyfriend and I got there earlier than my girlfriend and her guy so we were going to put our name in at 6 but the wait was only about 30 minutes so we waited since we weren't sure if our friends would be there in 30 min, came back 30 minutes later and had a 75 minute wait. Yikes! Regardless, we chatted downstairs in the furniture section (very smartly placed for people to sit down and relax while waiting forever). Our waitress was nice. Very personable which probably comes from serving people who come from all over the country to this place. Unfortunately for my group our food wasn't that great for some reason. It seems my girlfriend and her guy's food was fine (pastas and appetizers), but my boyfriend's food was cold. I don't mean a little warm, lukewarm--it was cold. Eating a cold Steak Diane is not very appealing. His mushrooms in his dish were cold as well, as if the dish had been waiting there forever. Even our coffee was cold as well, I was able to drink it through the tiny straw in huge gulps because it was literally lukewarm--chilly. It seemed that as nice as our waitress was to us she was nice to all her customers, which kind of leads me to assume she probably left our food waiting on the counter for a little too long considering how long it took our food to eat. The whole experience was about 2 and a half hours so it took quite a while. The macaroni cheese balls were okay, a little too much cream for me. Crab cakes were yummy, coffee would have been better if it was actually hot and not awkwardly lukewarm. The lemon meringue cheesecake was good though. I'd be pretty upset if I didn't enjoy the cheesecake considering I'm at the cheesecake factory. Overall the experience was enjoyable for the company, but our food was meh. It seems the busier they get the less organized they are with food preparation. I read other reviews about food being a hit or miss, so just be careful.

You know, I would have given it 5 stars... But had to ding 1 star. Read below to find out why... Walking in, oh my word, those cheesecakes looked SO FLUFFY AND DELICIOUS. Came at 1:30pm, 5 minute wait for inside table, 15minutes for outside. I chose inside. Got a table at the far back corner. +Service was excellent. Very patient and understanding waiters/waitresses. ~Kind of loud inside but it was lunch time, noise is a must. +Very clean restaurant. Sat down, ordered a Crispy Crab Wonton Appetizer ($10.95). Really good. Fried very nicely. Inside was nice and warm. Dipping sauce (sweet chili sauce) accompanied it well. My entree was a Fettuccini with Chicken and Sun-Dried Tomatoes. Oh boy this was really good. Tasted like bacon, and there isn't any. A little too salty in my opinion, was grabbing for water a lot. I couldn't finish it and brought it home. Once I got home, I noticed there was a LOT of oil at the bottom. Not much of a turnoff, until I started eating and I saw a tiny piece of metal scrap in my pasta... Gross. It was a metal scrap fallen from cleaning pots and pans. Totally disgusting... Kind of sad I didn't get to try the cheesecake. Got too full but heard lots of compliments for them. It was a very pleasant afternoon. Everything was great, up until I found that metal scrap. I don't know if I want to return.. but if it's for the cheesecakes, different story :)

The one time I visited here I had a horrific experience. First of all, we got to the restaurant and since it was a busy Saturday night, we were given a buzzer and told that the wait would be 45min. We came back once we were called and the person at the front desk told us that they messed up the seating, however, we were next on the list and was offered free appetizers. I thought that it was going great at this point. However what really killed the meal was that the drink I ordered contained small pieces of crushed glass. I didn't realize what it was at first and started to chew on it, but it was sharp and definitely dangerous. We called over our waiter and they gave us a slice of cheesecake to compensate for what happened. We stilled payed full price for the meal. I could have been seriously injured and will never come back again.

Had dinner with co-workers and luckily the wait wasn't long. The waitress was super nice and very patient since we all wanted separate tabs & I know that can be a pain and most of all annoying. But she never made us feel uncomfortable :) all are meals for delicious.

6 word review: Good food, great view, LONG WAIT. Now if you want to see my substantiation for this, read the rest :). This Cheesecake Factory is very conveniently located near Union Square and Westfield Mall and the Powell Bart station. The restaurant is on top of Macys, you enter through a Macys door and go up an elevator, or you can take the escalators if you want but it takes longer. So... On to the food. Not much to review here - the portions are as big as any other Cheesecake Factory and the food is consistently as good as any other. The service is also quite good. So for that reason, I'm giving 3-Stars, the same as my other Cheesecake Factory review. So what makes this restaurant different than other Cheesecake Factories? Well for starters, the view from this restaurant of Union Square if you sit outside at the ledge is awesome at night. It's very pretty looking down at all the people in Union Square. Keep in mind you are 8 floors up. Many people enjoy taking pictures up here with the setting/view in the background and I completely understand why :))). I was one of them, shhhh. What else makes this one different? THE LINE. This Cheesecake Factory has the longest waits to get a table of any one that I have ever been to. Not because the restaurant is so small, but because there are so many people that patronize it. The wait is consistently 1hour+ EASILY no matter when you get there if it's not abnormally early. Remember, they don't take reservations! Enjoy!

My girlfriend tried to get a simple birthday cake for me and was treated like dirt. After being told her cake would only take 10 minutes and waiting for more than 30, she tried to ask the staff how much longer she would need to wait. At this point the woman behind the counter, Allie (Aly?), simply brushed her off and said that they were too busy. She then ignored my girlfriend's follow-up questions and acted very condescending. My girlfriend was not born in America and English is not her first language, so she politely asked the staff to repeat themselves so she could better understand. This was met with further rudeness. At this point, my girlfriend called me over and the woman's entire attitude changed once she saw me. She was suddenly very apologetic and attempted to be accommodating. We finally got our cake and left after ensuring that they would take action for the shitty attitude. Be aware of racist staff at The Cheesecake Factory. They will feel like they can treat you like shit if you're anything but a white American.

I mean it was iight. I was eating about 2 feet away from Iggy Azalea and I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to get the same dish she got. She got a bunch of random crap on her plate then she spit it out and started rapping about all the ingredients that was on it then called it her single for her next album. Overall...it was aiight.

5 STARS: I'm a big fan of casual spots that have a great view- and I come here for the outdoor seating that overlooks union Square. The tables are far apart enough where you can have a private conversation while also getting the energy of a vibrant atmosphere. 1 STAR: The 1 hour wait, even in the middle of the week. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at this Cheesecake Factory. Be ready for the most insane wait times, but they are warranted due to the fact that this restaurant is pretty much the only one open past 10pm on a weekend night. My gf and I had to wait only 45 min, which was quick compared to the 2-3 hour waits I heard for the groups in front of us. Once we got seated the waitress was patient with us and did not rush which I appreciated. We started with the crispy Cuban rolls and the loaded baked potatoes tots. Both were very good and the sauces were on point. I decided to go with a classic for dinner, fettuccini Alfredo, made well and no issues. I always believed that cheese cake factory is overpriced and still do, but nonetheless it was a pleasant late night meal and if you get reservations take em!

I came here last monday (aug.17th,2015) with some friends that were visiting from Texas. I will say for a monday night it was really crowded!! We called in seeing if we could put our name in or make a reservation, they simply told us we could do neither because they do not do that. We said okay, went there to wait. It was a 45 minute wait for inside and 5-10 for outside. It was pretty chilly out but they promised it would be comfortable because of the heaters they have out there. My friends have a 3 year old and I have to say, it was pretty chilling unless you were right underneath that heater! It wasnt comfortable, so i took a star off that. The food was okay, nothing special at all. THe service was sucky! It took us two hours for 3 meals to get served and eaten. it was a long dinner! Too long especially for a three year old, so i took another star off of that which leave 3/5 stars. I would not necessarily say i would go back but the smores galore cheesecake was good!

Today my fiancé and I celebrated Valentine's Day at Cheesecake Factory, Union Square! The wait was only 15 mins when we arrived at 1:15pm and got our pager. Once we were seated, My fiancé and I ordered our drinks. He ordered a Piña Colada, I ordered Pineapple Mojito (which was very good) and Passion Fruit Tea. For our food orders, we had the Avocado Rolls ( they are so delicious; thanks yelp reviews), my fiancé had the Everything Pizza (delicious) and I had my Southern Chicken Sliders (from my previous review). Our server name was Lynn; awesome customer service! After we ate, we bought some cheesecake to go! My fiancé he the Red Velvet Cheesecake and Key Lime. I had the Oreo Extreme Cheesecake; all three are delicious but the Oreo Extreme is very rich in chocolate, so be cautious if you decided to try the Oreo Extreme. Overall we had a great day; happy Valentine's Day!!

Where do I begin? Is it the long wait where my wait time keeps extending or perhaps the subpar food they serve? Nope, none of the above. Its actually that I got food poisoning from eating here. This used to be a go to place for me with great view of Union Square and decent food. Now the wait is ridiculous and the food is horrible. The customer service was good though. Our server got our orders wrong but made several attempts to correct the error. But then I spent last night hovering over my toilet when I got home after eating here! Definitely not worth it.

I love coming here on a perfect day and sitting outside on the terrace where you have the most amazing views of Union Square. Having gone this past Monday for Martin Luther King's day it was unusually warm for the city and we scored a table in under 15 minutes. I ordered a Steak Diane for the first time and was surprised at how tasty this was. The chunks of meat were seasoned nicely with the wine sauce and the mashed potatoes were so good that I couldn't help forking small mounds into my mouth. Before I knew it my meat was being ignored. Is that possible? Apparently so. And the weather? Just perfect. Sunny, with the heat lamps on the lowest setting-- just enough to keep us so that we could sit comfortably without our jackets on. If you have the opportunity, sit outside to experience this yourself. The views are worth it alone. Pair it with good friends, yummy food and you couldn't ask for a better day.

Came here for lunch on a weekday and it was a very short wait, as I was ok with sitting indoors. Food was very average. Sadly I couldn't control myself and was full following the bread that came before the food. Not a good situation to be in when the entrees contain, on average, three-meals-worth of food. The only one I've tried that I'd go back to is the one in Walnut Creek!

The location and view is what makes this place. Everything else is typical CF though. Good food, drinks and cheesecake obviously. If you don't want to venture out into the city for new food experiences, this is a good place. Can't beat Anchor Steam on tap, but we are in SF.

They got the perfect location - overlooking Union Square. It's pretty when sitting outside and if it's cold, they turn up the heat lamps. My favorites here: Steak Diane and Tex Mex Eggrolls. Drinks? Sour Apple Martini and Georgia Peach. Yes and Yes! The service is usually good, but beware of expecting quick seating and service when you visit during peak lunch and dinner hours. I recommend going during off peak hours for best service. Portions are large - sometimes so large that you have no room for dessert. If you have a nice phone and love taking pictures, take some of the food/drinks and post them to social media. CF follows me on Instagram and Twitter and have reposted my pictures.

I came here pretty early in the afternoon with my husband and my mom, they told us the wait would be 10 minutes. Of course I knew it would be longer so that didn't bother me. After about 15 minutes, they told us to wait on the side. We waited almost 10 more minutes there while watching 5 other tables go ahead, some of them tables of 3. Finally I went to the manager and asked what was going on, he asked me if we wanted inside or outside, I told him whatever is available and he shrugged his shoulders and walked to get me is which I found rude. He told us maybe someone else took our table, whatever, after waking up at 6am to commute to San Francisco for a meeting I wasn't the happiest camper. We were sat at a booth and waited almost 10 minutes for someone to come over and greet us and offer drinks and bread. The waitress finally came and she was very nice and apologized about making us wait. I ordered the lunch special fish and chips which was huge for a lunch portion which was great, my husband had the shrimp scampi which was so tiny for 20$! It only had 6 pieces of shrimp, not what I expected from the Cheesecake Factory. My mother had the chicken littles which were good also. We ended with the white chocolate caramel macadamia nut cheesecake which was very sweet and delicious. I wish this place had better service and more organized when it comes to seating and acknowledgement of their customers.

Crowded, long wait times, and not kid friendly. The cheesecake tasted great. I did get food poisoning after eating there. I've eaten there twice and ordered to-go twice and each time was a horrible experience, I will never eat there again.

Never go here. This place was the worst. The server did not bring us our drinks nor my wife's salad. Our food came out one item at a time about a minute apart. I then tried to pay at the cashier and she WOULD NOT take my money. We had to pay the awful server. I have no idea why this place is so busy.

Wonderful experience coming to this location. Seemed like there would be a long wait when arriving, but we were seated in less than 10 min. The waiter was so attentive and very kind, even though most of my table didn't speak English. Everyone was very pleased with the food. I ordered the Seared tuna tataki salad which was okay, but the banana cheesecake after made up for it. I'd definitely come back next time I'm shopping in the city.

I was so looking forward to trying the southwestern chicken sandwich since it had jalapeños and avocado (2 of my favorite foods). It tasted yummy! Luckily I looked down at the sandwich and realized I bit into RAW CHICKEN! I immediately stopped eating it and told the waiter. He volunteered to bring me another one. The manager came by our table, introduced herself, and apologized for the raw chicken. She asked if I wanted anything in the meantime. I ordered a salad with ranch dressing (just some lettuce no other veggies smothered in dressing). When the sandwich finally arrived, I tried to enjoy it but kept analyzing it to verify it was cooked. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy eating it as much as I thought I would. When the bill came I was astonished that I was charged for the sandwich! In all oft years of dining out, whenever the kitchen made an error the item was complimentary! I won't be dining there again while in San Francisco! The management definitely needs a lesson in good customer service!

Mid afternoon seating for 2 in less than 20 minutes. A proven restaurant for quality food. I usually get the shrimp platter with fries and cole slaw. after a 3 hour tour and a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge I was very hungry and this hit the spot.

We were seated by the manager after our host forgot about us, then had a great night up until a point. I rated the restaurant 5 stars at this point, but have since had to change it due to unforeseen circumstances. The same night, my girlfriend ended up with crushed glass in her drink, and while the manager at the Cheesecake Factory that night offered to give us some free appetizers (which he did), we still payed full price for the meal. She could have been seriously injured have had to seek medical attention. The service was adequate so I was tempted to give 2 stars, but the potential for injury was just too high. While the food tasted good, I would not trust this location to provide safe food.

Minus one star for service... We came here yesterday with a party of 4 for Fourth of July late night dinner/snacks and was dining outside on the roof area. My friend invited three more people to the party (they haven't yet arrived). So, we waved to a waitress and asked if it's possible to maybe arrange seating for us to sit down at another area for a larger party. The waitress then rudely goes "Oh, you can just go ask the host." Not that we don't have legs, arms, or that we cannot physically go ask the host ourselves. However, as an etiquette, at least OFFER nicely and say things like "I'm actually not sure if I can personally arrange that for you, but, let me go ask the host for you." Nope. She didn't, she just left us hangin'. We also asked if we could order and she told us that we need to wait for our own waitress...UM. OKAY. We don't want to talk to you anyway....-__-" I'm a host at a restaurant; hence, why I feel like it's necessary to complain about this type of situation because come on, that's extremely rude for an environment like Cheesecake Factory! (Not that I've experienced better service before here...and the wait here is just ridiculous in general...) Anyway, we ended up dining with just four people and was able to calm down because our waitress was pretty funny and somewhat lightened up the mood for us. Appetizers we got included the Tex Mex Eggrolls, Factory Nachos, Crispy Crab Wontons, and Buffalo Blasts. So much for healthy, everything was fried food, haha! We also got for dessert Tiramisu Cheesecake, and Strawberry Cheesecake. Both were average I would say. I favored the Factory Nachos a lot more over the others. It was not as greasy and oily as the Buffalo Blasts and Eggrolls, but it was worth a try. Overall, Cheesecake Factory's food was mediocre, and I hope they'll learn to improve their customer service a little bit better because I'm out of here!

Cheesecake Factory is always a favorite, sometimes the wait is long, but always worth it in the end. HUGE servings, Split an entree! Cheesecake is to die for! If you don't sit outside, make sure you visit to see the view. It's an extra special evening during the holidays!

I really like the Cheesecake Factory. This place does get a little bit crowded, but hey, it's the location :) They have outside seating, overlooking SF from a rooftop :) Food-wise, you'll get exactly what you'll get in any other Cheesecake Factory.

The staff downstairs at Macys for reservations or information for the restaurant didn't volunteer information. I asked about the restaurant and he never said that I needed reservations or to give my name for a wait, or where the line was. However our waitress and the staff upstairs were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was fun and unique. Very dark ok, almost too dark to read the menu. More a bar atmosphere than dining. The food was ok, not great. Large portions. The bread was delicious, the crab artichoke dish had a "fishy" flavor. The chicken was ok a bit plain and the broccoli is very crunchy. Read almost raw and difficult to spear with my fork. The potatoes were ok if you ate with the chicken otherwise they were a bit salty. I had an Asian pear martini. It was amazing and bumped this review up to a three Oops I take it back. I just went to the bathroom. It has tissue everywhere, broken toilet paper holders and the sink is desperate of being fully wiped down. The floors in here are also very greasy. I slipped and I watched another lady slip on the way in. The waitress said oh yes the floors are slippery. No they r greasy and dawn would take care of that .

Arrived with my two friends.....WHY they don't accept reservations is beyond me. Put our name in at 4:30 and OF COURSE there was a huge wait. They gave us a pager, we went window shopping & visited. Ultimately we sat down INSIDE at about 7:00pm. The Tree is 83 feet and the lighting was just BEAUTIFUL. Totally. Cheesecake Factory has the perfect location, breathtaking view overlooking Union Square & inside Macys. We started with a cocktail. I had a cosmopolitan and the girls had mojitos. For apps we had the Avocado Egg Rolls (not as good as BJ's) and the Thai Lettuce Wraps (too spicy for me). For mains I had the Shrimp Scampi w/Angel Hair Pasta which was yummy. Shrimps were tender. My friends had Fresh Grilled Salmon dish & the Hibachi Steak. They said they each enjoyed their meal. For dessert, we each ordered a Tiramisu Cheesecake to take home. Needless to say, the place was PACKED and seating was cramped. Service was semi OK, under the conditions. The CF is a little pricey. The food is mediocre at best. Your paying for the Ambience. Would I come back? Maybe next year, for another Tree Lighting.

Why isn't it possible to make reservations?!? The wait is super long, for a party of 4 on a Sunday at 8pm is 45 minutes. Then the food takes another 45 minutes to come. The long wait for a table and the food docks a star off since they don't take reservations. I'm sure most people do not want to plan big birthday parties and tell the whole group to wait for a table. We were celebrating a birthday and it was nice for the waiters to come together and sing happy birthday. During the time we were there, heard two other parties celebrating birthdays. Seems like the place since the cheesecake is so delicious! Our server was pretty nice, we were checked on once in awhile to make sure everything was going well. The food can be a hit or miss. Ordered 3 different kinds of steaks and one was flavorless (steak diane) while the hibachi steak was tasty. The rib eye didn't taste special, seems like the same thing you could anywhere else.

The problem with this place isn't that the food is expensive, or that I might have to wait a long time to be seated. The real problem is their customer service. Waiting to be seated could take some time, and I definitely understand that there is a high volume of people who wish to eat there as well. A pretty simple and reasonable suggestion would be to tell a guest exactly how long it'll be until they will be seated. It's frustrating when they say it'll be an hour....then you go back to them and they say it's another 30 minutes....and then you go back and they say it's another 30 minutes. If they told people how long the wait would be, then no ones time would be wasted. And then they think it's absolutely barbaric that a person would get mad about waiting that long. WTF. Maybe I wouldn't have been as upset if you told me the exact amount of time it would take for me to be seated in the first place. I wouldn't have wasted my time if they gave me the common courtesy of being honest. Instead they just drag you along by getting your hopes up by thinking you're close to being seated. Get it together. The only good thing about this place is the free bread. That is all.

I'm a huge fan of Cheesecake Factory and the food is generally consistent with what I've had at other locations. Just a few things: 1. The coke I ordered had a weird metallic taste in it. 2. Patio doesn't have enough shade so make sure you have sunblock and sunglasses (our waiter was wearing sunglasses the entire time). 3. Tons of tourists here. If you go during peak hours, prepare to wait for a long time.

Would not recommend and so over rated. We just wanted to walk somewhere close to our hotel in union square .... Bottom line : So Not worth the wait... And a rude hostess to boot. Made my way up to the counter past droves of people waiting where 4 people totally ignored me and after a few minutes of talking to each other a very tall blond and a short (compared to her) brunette turned their backs to me . Can't do that to a Texan who practices southern hospitality! Needless to say, we bee lined it out of there and went to the spectacular "hamburger bar" 6th floor - which outdid the snobby Cheesecake Factory's stinky staff ten fold! In which I'll be giving them(hamburger bar) 5 stars- the waitress came over and made some small talk - even made the time to give us Texans a few San Francisco tips. They could teach the over rated, pompous cheesefreaks a lesson on simple hospitality.

I love the food at the Cheesecake Factory but this location since it's on the 8th Fl and you get nice views of downtown. I was staying a few blocks away and we decided to come here for dinner. The food was great as you can expect it in any of the Cheesecake chains.

CHEESE CAKE FACTORY! Haha, you're a chain you. Although this place is really typical and it is kind of "whatever" to some, I actually really enjoy this place. I'm pretty fond of the food here and the portions. It is a bit on the pricier side, but there are really decent portions for what you pay for. Which is hard to get for a place with a nice atmosphere as well. I've come here for many formal events and I think it's one of the perfect places to have them. Especially with big groups, because you can make reservations and they're pretty good with that. Of course, as usual, the tip will be automatically added to your bill. My default dish is fettichini alfredo, can't go wrong with it! Just add chicken, shrimp or whatever ya like to it.

After a long workout my friend and I were very hungry and decided to walk to Chipotle but last minute cravings switched our plan to the Cheesecake Factory and let me tell you it was the best decision of the day. We arrived to the sixth floor wonderland of goodness to a disappointing twenty minute wait but were immediately informed of the bar seating option and since it was open seating we just sat there. From the moment we sat down we were offered amazing service from the female bartender Ashwani. She brought us a sample of the delightful corn chowder and from then on gave us samples of almost every drink she was making. She was pleasant and served is fast with attention to detail. It may not be the classiest of restaurants but Ashwani made it the best dining service I've experienced in SF since I moved here two years ago. We will be back! PS. The chicken Balagio is tasty but serve a little less pesto noodles is all I have to say.

I love this place even though we had to wait 1 hour to be seated. Once seated the food and the view make up for time lost. It is especially festive during Christmas time, this restaurant is located inside Macy's on 7th floor I believe & it overlooks Union square with amazing views throughout. Now onto the food I had the old fashioned hamburger, well done it was done to perfection we had the wings as an appetizer and they were tastefully juicy and made just right. Alas dessert our kids ordered the carrot cake and raspberry chocolate cheesecakes we all shared because at this place they serve up HUGE portion sizes we really enjoyed our meal. We started this tradition as we visit during Christmas time and yes it does get busy but be patient it is well worth the time.

Just stopped by to get some cheesecake, and it was a great decision. My buddy and I had just finished catching up at nearby Irish staple Lefty O'Doul's, and we swung by to check out dessert offerings. The place was PACKED, even on a Monday night, and so we just got it to go so that we could enjoy the cheesecake in peace in the Westin lobby (where I was staying). We got the original, strawberry creme, caramel praline, and the mango key lime slices. To be fair, two of the slices were for other people, but we dabbled in tasting all of them along the way. They were all heavenly, and came packaged well with a dollop of whipped cream on the side, and in all, it was a great product. Even with how busy the place was, they were quick to serve us, and while it was pricey, the service was pleasant and they were nice. Further, the only downside is the elevator/escalator ride to get up there, but it's just a minor inconvenience.

Before I start the full review, my friend & me order two bloody Marys, she can't drink spicy so the bartender suggests just tomato juice for her drink we agree, mine is fantastic & spicy. My friend decides she needs more kick cause it's just vodka & bland tomato juice so we pony up to the service station & try to get the bartenders attention which we do. We wanted some of the good stuff I had in my drink added to my friends drink, just a smidge. But instead he tells the server to splash some Tabasco into the glass. That's not we expected for $9.00 drinks, he already got our tip so we were has beens. Now the rest. What a madhouse. Extreme Noise, people waiting, coming & going. This restaurant is total cookie cutter, descent fair, huge portions. And being on the 7th floor of Macys over looking union square makes for a prime location. I can't think of another restaurant that can be this successful with their large selection, portions & fair prices as well as lunch prices served til 5pm. Nice. We ordered the avocado rolls, six large pieces served with in a crunchy fried egg roll, they might want to offer a lighter version, like endive but keep the large portion of avocado.....maybe some more herbs or spices in the avocado too. The wait staff doesn't write anything down or at least our waitress. She didn't write down we wanted the lunch portions & prices. So when we received the bill each entree was $5 more. Oh we brought it to her attention & she claimed we didn't request it, though we specifically ordered from the lunch menu & told her so & we were seated at 3pm. Is this a bait and switch? There are so many tourist there & customers that may not speak up or know how to read an American check, so I think this is standard practice. Hint, the portions are huge & a lunch portion along with all the other stuff you may order is more than sufficient. After the avocado egg rolls we both ordered salmon & the portion was great, perfectly cooked, hollandaise sauce adorned the bottom of the plate with perfect al dente asparagus on top & a nice portion of rustic red mash potatoes. For such a manic environment & apathetic waitressing & bar tending the kitchen made up for anything that was a miss. In closing I would recommend this place for location, fair prices & large portions, don't expect much from the wait staff, we still gave the staff a good tip ;-)

This is my second time coming at this location with my boyfriend. This place always has a good service. We requested to sit outside and we got a nice view. Yey! We sat next to an outdoor heater that kept as warm. Because last time we sat outside the one next to us was broken. The waiter was nice and pretty funny too. I wanted to order something different so I got the eggplant burger. For some reason I couldn't finished it. Even my boyfriend couldn't finished his food either and I think he got the chicken Alfredo. He had a lot on his plate. Oh wait I almost forgot! We had calamari too! Oh yes the calamari was most definitely DELICIOSO! But we had room for dessert tho! So I got my favorite! RED VEVLET CHEESECAKE!! And I shared with my boyfriend of course LOL! Overall it was good dinner for us two!

Waited over 2 hours for a table on a Saturday evening!!! Well, it wasn't my idea to dine here :,( Food was ok Service was terrible Wait was ridiculous What we ordered for a party of 2 plus take out: 1.Skinnilicious Factory chopped salad 4/5 (Decent portion, reasonable price and low calorie) 2. Shrimp Scampi and Steak Diane combo with a side order of broccoli 1/5 (3 large size breaded shrimp, 3 scoop of mashed potatoes and 3-4 small pieces of steak) I like my steak medium cooked, it came out well-done so I sent it back! It yoked about 40 minutes for it to come out again so we ended up pack it for to go. The side of broccoli took that long also. Unbelievable! 3. Meatloaf 2/5 4. Shrimp and chicken gumbo 2/5 5. Tiramisu Cheesecake 4/5 6. Blueberries White Chocolate Cheesecake 3/5 Worst experience ever!

Food: As tasty as you remember at your neighborhood Cheesecake Factory. The Jumbalaya Pasta dish is stupendous. Spicy, but not so spicy that your heat averse partner will not be able to tolerate a taste. The atmosphere: An exceedingly cool location propped atop the tall Macy's building in downtown SF. In the Fall/Winter you can gaze down on the ice skaters in Union Square. Reserving a table: Chaos! Send someone along early to put your name in, especially on a Saturday night. Wait times can exceed 90 minutes to 2 hours! There is virtually no place to wait around near the front desk and it is a free for all to get to the desk to even put in your reservation. Once you make it to the desk you can give them your cell number and they will text you when your table is ready.

I love me some Cheesecake factory. I always get the Renee's Special. "Half a sandwich" is really a whole sandwich- the chicken salad is bomb. The soup is always ridic. good and the salad is the healthy part :) this is a platter of food for $9 people. Skip the cheesecake in my opinion, overrated and over priced unless you go when it's piumpkin cheesecake season, in that case get like 20 whole cheesecakes.

We all knew it was gonna be a mediocre time. We all knew it, but when you one day decide you want Cheesecake Factory anyway and go and find it's a 2-3 hour wait, and then try to come back again and it's the same thing, and again in a different location and it's the same deal...well, it becomes kind of a "Challenge Accepted" kinda situation. Different time?? Nope. Different day?? Nope. After the busy season is over (AND before regular dinner hours)?? YES. Finally. Shortest wait ever, just 45 minutes after arriving a Saturday evening around 4:45. We were seated by 6pm (a little longer than 45 minutes but hey, less than 2-3 hours!). Service was terrible for a place that should know how to handle crowds. There was a period where there were a ton of empty tables around us, and yet our server was nowhere to be seen. They forgot our appetizer and took about an hour to bring us our food. I ordered a skinny drink and thought it wasn't what I asked for, but she had said it was so didn't question it...later, looking at the check, she'd given me the wrong drink. Oh, and finally, I love cheesecake and I love carrot cake. There was an item called "Craig's Crazy Carrot Cake Cheesecake" on the menu, and I thought it was just exactly what it said: a carrot cake CHEESEcake. Nope. It was a carrot cake with cream cheese filling, like any regular cake, and usually I'd appreciate that, but NOT WHEN I WANT CHEESEcake. Maybe I should have asked, but it was in the cheesecake section. How hard could it be to call it "Craig's Crazy Carrot Cake" instead of "Craig's Crazy Carrot Cake Cheesecake"? Oh well. It was a pretty standard, 5/10 carrot cake anyway. But if I wanted carrot cake, I'd definitely have gone somewhere else. Oh yeah, and the food that we did get was ok. My boyfriend got the orange chicken and it tasted about half as good as the kind you can get at Trader Joe's. I got a turkey burger and it tasted a little less dry than cardboard (I wanted to ask for ketchup but our server disappeared again). But our friend ordered a pizza that looked pretty good! Annoyances aside, it was what you'd expect from a Cheesecake Factory, I guess. Now I remember why I never go.

I've been coming to the Cheesecake Factory for many, many years and I'm rarely disappointed. Of course no likes to wait to be seated but it's to be expected, and just points to the popularity of this restaurant. There are so many menu items that are great, I couldn't list them all. I really like the shrimp scampi and chicken madeira but I also like many others. I do wish that they would bring back the shrimp club sandwich, a long time favorite. If you like cheesecake, then obviously you're at the right place. The choices are huge and decadent. Sometimes I just get the plain cheesecake to keep it simple. Service is usually very good, but occasionally it can be slow. Still, it's a five star place!

This place is super packed... full of tourists since it's in Union Square. If you are looking for something quiet, that's not the place to go. I give it 3 starts because the portion are big and prices are relatively good.

Had brunch here. The wait was 45mins which made my date impatient but did window shopping at Macy's while we waited. Had calamari and peanut sauce appetizer which was delicious. The tomato basil pasta was horrible but I left with the most unhealthy portion of red velvet cheesecake that was to die for. Had the nicest and most patient waiter and overall enjoyable time.

You know what you're signing up for when you go to the Union Square Cheesecake Factory. It's going to be at least a 30 minute wait and there is never any room at the bar. With that in mind, I like this location. It's in the middle of it all and during the day, sometimes it's nice to sit outside on the top floor and people watch (beware of birds though). People have always been friendly at this location (granted it is their job) and they know that the more efficient they are, the more tables they'll have that night. For the most part, I'm no fuss when I'm here. I order the same thing every time (da vinci pasta and georgia peach drink) and it always comes out great.

Yes, it's a tourist haven (or tourist hell, depending on the night). Yes, it's a chain. And yes, it's on top of the 2nd largest Macy's in the world. But it's a nice spot to treat a friend to an after-finals dinner, which is just what me and the boyfriend did for our roommate and a friend of his. In the interests of full disclosure, we let them pick the eatery. I've been here a few times, usually for celebratory purposes, and I have no specific complaint except that the elevator ride is usually tight quarters and there isn't a lot of standing space around once you put your name in for a table. Hosts and hostesses are perfunctory bordering on rude, but you have to figure that they see lord knows how many people during the course of any given day, and we all know the public can make the saintliest person curse like a sailor. On this particular outing, it was just a 20 minute wait, so our little crew shuffled outside to take in the pretty fantastic view of Union Square at sunset. The bar is also a nice spot to go if you're a small party - if you can snag a table or bar seats, skip the wait and eat there. We ate outside, which is normally not advised at sunset in SF, due to COLD, but they have heaters in their outdoor patio area. A few ambitious seagulls and pigeons do make it over the plastic partitions protecting patrons from the precipice (go alliteration!) but they are generally well behaved. I noticed a pair of pigeons actually strolling the aisle from table to table. Got the bread, devoured the bread, love the bread. Now, as most anyone who's visited any TCF knows, portions here are ginormous. I usually get the Louisiana Chicken Pasta because, well...it's a huge plate of noodles with 4 pounded thin and breaded chicken pieces on top. And it's kinda spicy. And delicious. And makes two meals. Boy got a burger (big surprise), roomie got their pork chop, which I have to assume was good since he left nothing on the plate, and he is a small guy! Roomie's friend got fish n chips. I was good and only ate half of my meal, and I was just hungry enough to want a few bites of cheesecake, so we ordered one slice for the table to share. Opted for the Kahlua coffee chocolate cheesecake. It was just as decadent as it sounds, and three bites was more than enough to slake my sweet tooth. Service here is typically pretty good, our server was on point and was nice enough to let us know when he went on his dinner break, introducing us to his cover guy. I really do appreciate little touches like that. So, yeah. There's a bazillion options in this area, most are local, and a lot are better. But this place cranks out a decent meal (and superplus portions) for a decent price. A-ok indeed.

Some mad chicken samosas and that cilantro sauce was a treat too. Always dine outdoors under the stars and 8 stories above the crowds. Did you know they close at midnight on weekends? Freakin recession does crazy things to business but I'm lovin it. Just don't bring your kids here unless you tie them down because that ledge is short and one of these days one of them is gonna bounce off.

On a Sunday night, this place was still filled with people at 9:30pm. When we arrived on the floor, the place smelled pretty bad. Going to the bathroom, one of the waiters said, "it smells like rotten egg here". We just laughed about it, because they noticed it too. After 20 minutes of waiting, we grabbed two seats at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Then it took nearly 20 minutes to get a dessert and freshly orange juice. The Strawberry shortcake was packed with old thawed out strawberries and hard bread. It wasn't good at all. The one good part of my night was when the waitress offered to fill my water bottle after seeing me try to fill up my bottle with left-over water. That was nice. I suggest sticking to the cheesecakes, because that is their specialty.

My boyfriend and I decided to come here for date night on Labor Day evening around 7pm, and I was surprised that the wait was less than an hour. Even though it took about 40-50 min to get seated when they said 30 min. The receptionist was friendly and patient despite so many people crowding her. For appetizer we had the crab bites, and for dinner I ordered the lemon tomato basil angel hair shrimp pasta, and my boyfriend got a basil cream sauce pasta with breaded chicken, prosciutto and arugula on top. Both were delicious!! Our waiter was friendly, never forgot about us, and was helpful. It was my boyfriends first time here and he loved his food. For dessert we had the Oreo cheesecake. So good but I wish we saved room for it during dinner. The only complaint I had is since we sat outside during the evening, the lighting was BAD. By the end of dinner, couldn't see my food or my boyfriend.

I come here whenever I get the chance - mainly for the outdoor, high rise seating view. It is absolutely breath taking to be sitting on the top floor on a beautiful sunny day in Downtown SF. You get the breeze, the sun, the nice service and some pretty delicious food. The must orders: Avocado Rolls as the appetizers, the Mango Raspberry as the drink, and salad of almost any kind... I stick with the Cobb Salad on most occasions. I use to have the pastas a lot, but then I noticed either the flavors got bland or my taste for pastas here went away. I believe they have a dish called Bang Bang Chicken here and that's tasty as well. They also have good desserts. The wait can be quite long - there are days when I've waited for a good 50 minutes, but you get to roam around Macy's while you wait.

I came here the other day because it was conveniently located to where we were shopping...not my first choice. I received some bad news so we stepped in for a much needed drink at the bar. We were greeted by the most charismatic, sincere, beautiful sharp server. Her name was something like Ashwini (i checked the receipt) She was intuitive and did not bother us when we were talking but made sure to check in when the time seemed right She was super funny and even got my vodka gimlet order right which no one seems to get down the first time. She cheered me up not even knowing that she was doing so. We ordered cheesecake to go and ummm...delicious!!! We ordered the pineapple upside down and the original with strawberries...soooo good! I will def be back because of her!!!

Something about this place... I'm well aware that it's not of the best quality, but the food here is so delicious! How can I not return? It's almost always a long wait during peak hours, which is every weekend and evenings! I love coming here on the slower days, immediate seating and no crowds! Waiters/Waitresses are always knowledgable and pleasant. Chicken Bellagio - my favorite pasta dish! spaghetti pasta in a delicious pesto and cream sauce topped with two pieces of crispy coated chicken breast, a piece of prosciutto, and arugula salad. Ok, I just went to the site and this is the actual description...I'm not too far off! "Crispy Coated Chicken Breast over Basil Pasta and Parmesan Cream Sauce Topped with Prosciutto and Arugula Salad." The sauce, the chicken, the pasta, they're all so yummy! Portions are huge so this pasta dish is a for sure splitter dish. Half is already very filling. Fried Calamari - always done right, always done perfectly. Every time I eat here, I order this appetizer. It's the bomb. That's all there is to it! Tex Mex Egg Rolls - another great appetizer! It's like a Mexican egg roll; a blend of chicken, corn, black beans, salsa, and much more. This one's a party in your mouth! Louisiana Chicken Pasta - this use to be my favorite but the bow tie pasta was dry at times. It's similar to the Chicken Bellagio, but with different pasta, and does not have the pesto/basil cream sauce. $$ but the food is pretty flavorful and yummy! Whether you choose to sit outside or get lucky with a booth seat by the windows, the view of the buildings and Union Square down below is always nice, especially during the holidays!

I'm not really a chain restaurant kind of girl, but Fridays are no meat days for Catholics and I had a voucher for a free slice of cheesecake (buy gift cards and they'll give these to you as a bonus!), so I figured I'd have a ton of options at Cheesecake Factory, with its novel of a menu. I usually get the grilled cheese sandwich but I knew I was going to order myself a slice of cheesecake so I decided to be healthy and order from the skinnylicious menu. The ahi tartare is listed as an appetizer, but I knew I was at CF, home of ridiculously large portions. My assumptions were wrong. This appetizer is definitely more of an appetizer for one, or maybe two. It was surprisingly small. I made up for it by inhaling a slice of dutch apple cheesecake, which was justified in my head because it had fruit. (HEALTHY!) The place was packed but there were several open stools at the bar and the servers there were attentive as can be. In and out in well under an hour.

i always leave this place super full! the servers are always really friendly. I've always LOVE their Louisiana chicken pasta! I went there today at around 3 with my boyfriend and we were able to get the lunch special which ends at 5pm. I was pretty happy that the louisiana chicken pasta is on the lunch special so instead of pay around $16 for it, its only $11.50. The portion that came out was able the same as the original dish so i was pretty happy with it. The wait on a friday was only 5 mins compare to a weekend which takes an hr or more for a table.

Good food, we sat on the patio on the roof. It was nice. There was a pigeon getting all the scraps on the floor. The service was a little slow. But they were busy. We always like the food at these restaurants. I have never eaten at this location. It is in Macy's. on the top floor. Cheese cake is good and the salads are great.

Maybe we just got a bad server but this was the worst service I have had at any restaurant. The food was fine that's where the one star comes from. We watched all the tables around us flip twice while we got the wrong drinks and wrong food our whole time. It took us way longer than necessary and didn't even order dessert because it was so bad. I will not be back, ever.

I know, 4 stars? I'm surprising even myself. But seriously, dinner at The Cheesecake Factory Friday night was really good. Service was awesome - like 5 star restaurant awesome. We never had to wait for refills, wonder where our waiter was, etc... There was a 20 minute wait so we ordered some drinks at the bar (I had the ritz martini which was DELICIOUS) and wandered outside to people watch over union square. Great view! I don't think we even had to wait the full 20 minutes before our table was ready. I ordered the BBQ chicken salad which was super tasty! And enormous... As far as chains go, this is a really good one. Will definitely return!

My group and I ate there on a Friday night so of course it was busy. 1 hour and 30 minute wait. Feet started hurting but that's what we get for coming at the busiest hour. Loved dining on the rooftop. Our server was very friendly. Everyone enjoyed their food but my ahi tuna steak was cooked for way too long. I like mine seared and for the center to just melt in my mouth. I didn't complain because it was way too busy there and I figured a replacement order would come out once the rest of my party was done eating (they were scarfing down their food after that nearly 2 hour wait). The wasabi crust was good.. And it was the only thing that was good about my plate. I tried my husband's ribeye and it was good. Cooked perfectly. I was in a good mood though (my husband's birthday!) so oh well. This place is more for the fun atmosphere than a good hearty meal.

Cheesecake Factory has so many great memories - it's like an adult McDonald's. Bad for you calorie-wise but good experience. We have come here several times and when the wait is long, we'll wait around the bar area like vultures for a spot. Once I get a Georgia Peach drink, I'm good to go and usually I order the pasta. And the salmon firecracker rolls. And I eat the brown bread with butter. I feel like such a fatty writing this review but I love Cheesecake Factory! Esp the view of Union Square and all the tourists who look confused while waiting for their table. It's really a madhouse eating here - last time, I was walking and realized I had kicked a small child with my stiletto when he jailbroke from his dad and ran between people. I'm surprised he didn't fall! or cry... haha

Cheesecake = heart stoppers (literally) Each cheesecake has all-time-high calories in each slice but it's so devilishly good... I'd been craving cheesecake for several months but denied myself the pleasure. Until one day... White chocolate raspberry cheesecake mesmerized me through the cold display glass until I nearly lost it and jumped over the counter. I got a 6" ($20 something? I know, super expensive... by the slice they range from $6+) all to myself and the guy asked how many ppl it was for. Me: Oh, it's just for me *smile* Guy: Oh.... uh.... that should be plenty... it's good for about 4-5 days in the fridge... Me: No, it'll be long gone before then. Guy: heh... .... oh It was gone in 2 days. It's a nice treat once or twice a year... *again, the calories are insane... but so good :(

My wife and i met a couple of friends for lunch on 9/30/14. The wait time was almost nothing which was a shock. I expected at least 1 hour. The waiter who seemed nice enough took our order and we were brought our drinks. Our friend got up to greet my wife who arrived a bit later. As she got up, she knocked over a glass of wine. Another one was brought. The wait time for the food was crazy. About 1 hour when the place was not that busy. When the bill came I informed the waiter about possibly taking the 2nd glass of wine off the bill since it was accidentally knocked over. After asking us if it was full when it was knocked over and we said yes, i could tell that he very reluctantly removed it from the bill. Great food but the wait time to get the food is crazy.

My chopped salad was very good as was the peppermint stick cheesecake that my wife ordered. It was a grand view of Union Square from the 7th floor of Macy's Department Store. The decor is great with Egyptian Pillars. The service was first rate as well. A huge menu was a pleasant surprise.
